Hello. I am setting out on a blog journey. I hope you’ll join me and I hope I will serve you well. I originally began with wordpress.com, then realized that I was never going to monetize the blog in that arena. Now don’t get me wrong, I don’t want to just monetize. I love writing.
Writing has been my passion since I was six years old. Yes you heard me right 6 years old. It’s not that I was a nerdy brainchild. Well, maybe nerdy. The truth is, I have three older siblings and began stealing my big sisters homework at the age of three. Apparently I was infatuated with tracing the letters.
My mother began working with me and I learned to read and write exceptionally early. My mother was also into arts and crafts, music, and writing. Her influence opened me up to a life of imagination. That upbringing let this rusty writer to her own path of imaginations and word obsessions.
As childhood turned to adulthood, life became busy. The corporate world drew me into it’s web of deception that life would somehow be better sitting at the top floor of a high rise building far away from everything that I loved most about life. Then something tragically, yet sobering, yet amazing happened.
In 2008 I lost my job to the down turned economy. Jobs were scarce and I was not good at being a couch spud. Lashing out in frustration, I started creating my own jobs. It was a bit of a “screw them” I don’t need corporate. I’ll just do my own thing and never look back.
I had a lot of failures and a few good opportunities. Those opportunities were great but I’m a Chai tea drinker who bought into the spice-of-life theory. I’m the jump into the frying pan, fake it until you make it kind of girl. If it doesn’t work then drop it like a hot potato and step up to the passion within.
One day as I was researching my next move, I discovered Elance and began a journey into freelancing. It was tough. I almost gave up. Then one day my foot was in the door. Overtime I developed ongoing relationships and have been working steady since.
With the success of freelancing, I’ve decided to take that next step into monetizing a blog. I’m not sure where this will lead. I do know that a blog helping other freelancers is the kind of blog I can embrace. I intend to serve you well and be the information source that helps you navigate the freelance world.
